CEO message

As I reflect on another impactful year at YMCA Calgary, I’m grateful for the opportunity to enable Calgarians of all ages and backgrounds to reach their full potential. One of the great joys that comes with community leadership is the opportunity to deliver opportunities that spark belonging, growth, leadership and thriving, healthy people.  2023 was no exception.

Love, Camp Campaign

Revitalizing Camp Chief Hector

Goal: $17-million

Raised: $9.9-million

(December 31, 2023)

With the steady leadership of more than 1,900 volunteers and 1,300 employees, I’m pleased to share that we broke a new record in 2023, with more than four million visits across our health and wellness centres. Thanks to the generosity of our valued donors and supporters, I’m also pleased to share that we achieved our fundraising goal of $3,360,226 in philanthropic support. The Love, Camp capital campaign, an initiative to revitalize Camp Chief Hector, surpassed its end-of-year target, with close to $10 million raised.

As we serve our community today, our eyes are also on the horizon. As a priority of Navigate 2030, we are committed to ensuring YMCA Calgary is here for the long term and supporting generations to come. Looking ahead means recognizing the responsibility we have to the youth we serve today. They are, without a doubt, a critical investment in our shared future.

YMCA Calgary is a part of the village that’s raising the leaders of tomorrow. We are a community hub that is vibrant, welcoming, and supportive, providing opportunities for youth to build confidence, make meaningful connections and ignite their potential. I hope you take the time to listen to the stories included in this report – they provide an opportunity to hear from our future leaders and see the impact your YMCA is making.

None of what we do would be possible without the passion of our staff and volunteers, or the thoughtfulness of our donors. On behalf of the YMCA Calgary Board of Directors and Senior Leadership team, we recognize and appreciate you.

Calgary, thank you for trusting us to be the neighbour you can count on. We are here for the long term, and look forward to building our future, together.
